Daniel H. Smuul died Sunday, Oct. 15 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township. He was 83.
Born in New York City on Feb. 13, 1923, a son of Daniel and Hilma Toppari Smuul, he had resided in Raritan Township since 1957.
A 1941 graduate of Flemington High School, he attended the Newark College of Engineering and graduated with a B.S. degree in engineering from Rutgers University in 1965. He was an industrial engineer with Johns-Manville Corp., retiring in 1982.
He was a member of the AARP; the Flemington-Raritan Senior Citizens and the Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club.
During World War II, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the Ham Radio Operators.
A daughter, Sandra Stem, died in 1998.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Jane Burns Smuul; a granddaughter, Heather Stem of Raritan Township; a sister, Laila Stellmah of Raritan Township; one niece and one nephew.
Services were held Tuesday in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington.
Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington.
