Charles P. Rauschert, age 88 years, of Stockton, NJ passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at the Pine Run Retirement Community in Doylestown, PA.
Born June 10, 1933, in Ringoes, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Elizabeth Philhower Rauschert. As a young boy he attended the local one room schoolhouse in Ringoes and as a teenager he caddied at Copper Hill Country Club.
After attending college and receiving his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1963. Following his service, he would go on to work for General Motors for forty years until his retirement.
He met the former Patricia Johnson while they both worked at General Motors, and the two were married in March of 1961. Charlie and Pat loved cruising, taking many trips to the Caribbean and Europe, including favorite spots in Ireland, Great Britain, Bermuda, Barbados, Aruba, the Bahamas, Virgin Islands and the Panama Canal.
He was a long-time member of the Trenton Engineers Club and the Lambertville Elks.
As you might imagine, he loved cars, especially the Corvette and he was especially proud of his 1958 Vette. In addition, Charlie liked to go boating and enjoyed water skiing on the Delaware with friends and family.
Most people will remember Charlie for his great sense of humor and the special ability to make people smile and laugh – for that, he will be so truly missed.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was predeceased in 2021 by his two sisters, Judith Bushnell and Harriet L. Barrick, as well as his daughter-in-law, Janice Harris. He is survived by his wife, Patricia L. Rauschert, his son, Charles Brian Rauschert of Stockton NJ, his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Raymond Herrick of Millsboro DE, his granddaughter, Charley Rauschert of Stockton NJ, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service and burial officiated by the Rev. John Valiant will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Amwell Ridge Cemetery in Ringoes NJ.
