Charles (Charlie) Herbert Bond, Sr. passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center. He was born in Newark on December 10, 1944, to Charles Henry Bond and Elizabeth McFall Bond. He grew up in Belleville and resided in several towns through his life including Brick Township, Allenwood, and Hillsborough. He loved exploring Flemington, where he resided for eight years.

Charlie graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in accounting and earned a Law degree from Seton Hall Law School. He worked as an accountant at Amerada Hess and the Singer Corporation early in his career and spent many of his professional years as CFO and Corporate Council for Lab-Volt Systems.

An avid reader, Charlie was often seen reading a book, or a copy of the New Yorker. In recent years he enjoyed poetry, including works by Mary Oliver. He never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good movie, whether it was a classic, foreign, or latest release film, and was always eager to discuss them with family and friends. He was an enthusiastic traveler, was always planning his next trip, and had a deep love for Vermont. He had a passion for many different genres of music and was especially fond of folk music. He enjoyed sharing a variety of music with his children and continued the tradition with his grandchildren, introducing them to the music of Tom Chapin. Charlie was a wonderful storyteller, always keeping his family and friends entertained. Charlie’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life which he shared through work with Kairos Prison Ministry and volunteer efforts at St. Joseph Church in Hillsborough working in the archives.

He is pre-deceased by his parents, brother Edward, son Devon, daughter Lara, son-in-law Joseph Greer, step son Jeffrey Cullaton, and step daughter-in-law Dawn Cullaton.

He is survived by Suzanne (Friel) Bond, his wife of twenty-six years, son Charles and his wife Kathleen, and daughter Wendy Greer. He also leaves behind his step daughter Traci Giles and her husband Scott. Charlie was blessed with many grandchildren: Joseph Greer, Meghan Greer, Allison (Bond) Lukas and her husband Steven, Hannah Greer, Meghan (Giles) Singer and her husband Alex, Erin (Giles) Kamman and her husband Sawyer, Alex Giles, Caris Cullaton, and Caleigh Cullaton, as well as great-grandchildren Charlie and Oliver Singer. He also leaves behind several beloved family members: his sister Elizabeth Liloia and her husband Arnold, brother David and his wife Bernadette, sister Michelle and her wife Joan, brother Michael and his wife Amber. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews.

Charlie will be remembered for his quiet wisdom, gentle sense of humor, unwavering faith, intellectual curiosity, and the genuine interest he took in the people around him. His greatest joy was the time he spent with family, sharing stories, music, books, movies, and conversations that will continue to live on in those who loved him.
