After graduation, he attended the University of Tampa and graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education - History & English.
He returned to his beloved Hunterdon County in 1965 and was hired to teach History and English at South Hunterdon High School and spent the next 38 years at South Hunterdon serving as an educator, coach and student advisor. Upon his retirement in 2002 he moved to Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. During retirement he continued teaching serving as a substitute teacher at Waynesboro High School and a guide at the Gettysburg National Park educating visitors to the area on the Civil War and Battle of Gettysburg.
As a lifelong educator, his life was marked by the constant pursuit of knowledge and the desire to teach which extended beyond the classroom as he spent several years as a football coach at Riegel Ridge in Holland Township, NJ in the 1970’s. Beyond the classroom and gridiron, he was an active outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Bruce was known for his integrity, generosity of spirit, humor and unwavering support for others. He was loved by the many who knew him—family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his wisdom, compassion, and warmth.
