Bobby Joe Snider, age 89 years, of Milford, NJ passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Malden, MO on October 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Carl H. and Goldie Mae Varner Snider. He had resided in Hunterdon County, NJ since 1998. Having lived previously in Flint and Mount Morris, MI as well as Middlesex, NJ.
In his youth, he grew up in Michigan and upon his high school graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War era from 1950 to 1954, until he was honorably discharged.
He then went on to work as a lineman for Public Service utility company (today’s PSE&G) in New Brunswick and Bridgewater, NJ. His family recalled he was an extremely tough and hard-worker who was on-call working day or night depending on the shift. In fact, Bobby would even scale up and down telephone poles long before there were bucket trucks.
A healthy-minded person, he enjoyed exercise, especially riding his bike and skiing in the winter. Additionally, he loved to take care of and wax his truck; he was a big car enthusiast.
He was formerly a member of the Middlesex Elks Lodge #1488, former member of several VFW's, and a member of St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, Milford, NJ.
Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Edythe Colvin Snider, of Milford, NJ; his daughter, Diane Hall, of Flemington, NJ; and his son, Robert Snider, of Milford, NJ.
Burial and a funeral service officiated by Father Kris Kaczynski with full military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA will take place Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 9:30AM. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
