Anne Marie Haggerty, age 92 years, a beloved matriarch, passed away on Monday evening, January 26, 2026, at the Country Arch Care Center, Pittstown, NJ. Born on April 8, 1933, in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Phyllis (Dellaquila) Vallario. Anne Marie was a long-time resident of Martinsville, NJ, where she lived since 1976 before moving to Flemington, NJ, five years ago to be closer to family.
Anne Marie graduated from Dumont High School in 1951, married in 1953 and became a mother/homemaker. After moving to Martinsville, she embarked on a notable career as an executive secretary for AT&T in Bedminster, NJ, where she dedicated a decade of service. Beyond her professional life, she was known for her vibrant personality; affectionately described as "sassy" and "the life of the party" by her loved ones.
In her spare time, she enjoyed rooting for the New York Yankees and in her younger years was a Girl Scout Troop Leader for her daughter. She also loved John Wayne movies, Brigadoon and had a crazy passion for pocket tissues!
Her love language was food, profoundly expressed through her passion for cooking and feeding those she adored, especially during holidays. Anne Marie found particular joy in Christmas traditions, dressing up as Mrs. Claus and delighting her family with zeppolis. The Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve and making Swiss twists at Easter were among her cherished culinary traditions.
Anne Marie's legacy extends through her family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Haggerty and Lauren; her grandchildren—Melissa (Felipe), Joey, Madeline (Daniel), and Caroline (Ryan); and her great-granddaughter Emilia, with another great-grandchild on the way! In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her brothers, Steve Vallario and Paul Vallario (Aury), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Anne Marie was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, George A. Haggerty (the love of her life), as well as her daughter, Cynthia Kent (her angel). Her family also mourns the loss of her brother, Anthony Vallario his wife Marie, and sister-in-law, Barbara Vallario.
