Anna Petko, a devoted homemaker and cherished member of her family, passed away on May 2, 2026, in Flemington, New Jersey. Born on March 31, 1954, in Czechoslovakia, Anna lived a life marked by warmth, kindness, and an unwavering faith that guided her every step.
For over five decades, Anna dedicated herself to nurturing her family and supporting her husband, Steven Petko, in his role as a superintendent in New York City. Her steadfast commitment to her loved ones and her home was a testament to her selflessness and nurturing spirit. She was known not only for her dedication to her family but also for her readiness to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the true essence of compassion.
Anna’s rich personality shone through in the simple joys she embraced—dancing, the melodies of Slovak folk music, and engaging, heartfelt conversations with those around her. These cherished moments reflected a woman who found joy in connection, culture, and community. Her strong Catholic faith remained a cornerstone throughout her life, providing her with strength and guiding her devotion to family and friends alike.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Steven Petko, and their sons, Johnny and Steve Petko. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Athena, Oliver, and Cecilia, who were sources of immense joy and pride. The family finds comfort in the enduring legacy Anna leaves—a legacy built on love, faith, and unshakeable devotion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Birko and Anna (Sokolova) Birko. Their memory lives on in Anna’s heart and in the family she so lovingly nurtured.
Anna Petko’s life was a beautiful example of quiet strength, enduring faith, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, remembered always for the warmth she brought into their lives and the kindness that defined her existence.
