Anna Marie Ellis, 89, of Flemington, NJ, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at her brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s home, Mike and Sue Ellis, East Moline, IL.
Born and raised in Johnstown, NY, February 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Charles (immigrant from Italy) and Jean (Lamena) Leotta. Anne was a 1954 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was employed as a bank teller in Syracuse, NY. Anne married Theodore Ellis on November 12, 1962, in Sandy Creek, NY. He passed on March 4, 2014. From this union was born Theodore C. Ellis.
Anne was a communicant of St. Magdalen Catholic Church for over 40 years. Ted and Anne were long-time members of the Flemington Elks Lodge #1928. In fact, Anne was past president of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. Additionally, she was twice past president of the East Amwell Seniors.
Anne was a vibrant Italian gal who loved shoes, going to casinos, and playing bingo and bunco. She loved to dance, especially with her husband Ted. Anne volunteered for many years at the St. Magdalen Church, at the Elks, and the Hunterdon Medical Center hospital gift shop.
Additionally, she was a sports fanatic and loved watching all of the major sports on television.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carmella Navarretta.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Francine Ellis, and her grandchildren, Tristan and Cameron Ellis, all of Reading, PA, as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Sue Ellis, East Moline, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Magdalen Catholic Church, 105 Mine Street Flemington, NJ 08822. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
In leiu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus Jubilee Council #3294, 105 Mine Street Flemington, NJ 08822.
Finally, her family would like to thank her friends, Rosa, Lil, and Donna for their love and support as well as Nick and everyone at the Herman E. Kapp Senior Residences, who were so good to her.
Initial arrangements were under the care of the Sullivan-Ellis Mortuary, 1902 3rd Avenue, East Moline, IL 61244.
Final arrangements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
