Anna E. Gessner, a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home in Flemington, NJ on Monday, April 6, 2026, under the care of Hunterdon Hospice. Born in Lambertville, NJ, on May 25, 1930, Anna was the daughter of the late Jason Fuhr and Bertha (Weaver) Fuhr. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister, remembered fondly by her family and friends.

A graduate of Lambertville High School, Anna spent much of her life as a homemaker, nurturing her family with love and care. Alongside her role at home, she contributed significantly to various workplaces in the region. Her career included valuable office work at institutions such as the Admitting Office at Hunterdon Medical Center, serving as a medical receptionist in the medical building in Milford, NJ, and employment with Mechanical Precision, Inc. in Flemington, NJ. Through these positions, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and a commitment to service in her community.

Anna’s interests reflected her thoughtful and meticulous nature. She enjoyed engaging in puzzles, which spoke to her patience and keen mind, while crocheting allowed her to express her creativity and connect with tradition. A passionate bird lover, she found joy in nature’s subtle beauty, and she maintained a notable collection of bells, a hobby that delighted those who knew her.

She was affectionately known to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as “Gram” or “MeMe,” titles that encapsulated her cherished role within her extensive family circle. Anna’s loving spirit extended to her siblings as well, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.

Anna is survived by her three children: Brenda Davy (Frank) of Hillsboro, New Hampshire; David Housel (Lorraine) of Slatington, Pennsylvania; and Steven Housel (Dory) of Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania. Her legacy continues through eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Anderson, who resides in Howe, Indiana, her sister-in-law, Irma Fuhr, of Lambertville, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.
