Amelia Banerman, age 84 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Manhattan, NY, April 11, 1937, daughter of the late John and Josephine Steo DiMaggio, she had formerly resided in Hamilton, NJ and Staten Island, NY.
A homemaker, Amelia enjoyed visiting casinos and was an avid game show viewer. She also enjoyed watching the Home Shopping Network and QVC. Amelia loved a good plate of Chinese food, pasta, and cannoli. Throughout her life she made it a priority to donate to many children’s charities including childhood cancer and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Amelia was always honest and gave her opinion to her family and friends without “holding back” any truths.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Herman Banerman in 1999; two siblings, Marie Caruso and Peter DiMaggio and her daughter-in-law, Dawn Banerman in 2021.
Surviving are her two sons, Frederick Banerman and his spouse, Gregory Kulessa of Flemington, NJ, and Howard Banerman of Parlin, NJ; two grandchildren, Tyler, and Jaclyn Banerman both of Parlin, NJ; one sister, Lena Derrenbacher of Hamilton, NJ and her beloved dog, cookie.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 10:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 9:00-10:30 AM in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Amelia’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
