Alexandrea Julia Gunther-Pavlica

October 3, 1966 — May 18, 2024

Devoted to her family...

Alexandrea Julia Gunther-Pavlica, age 57, died in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township NJ.

Born October 3, 1966, in Somerville NJ, Ali (as she was known to most) was the daughter of Everett Gunther and the late Rose Marie (Felice) Gunther. As a young girl, Ali grew up in Finderne NJ and later the family moved to Frenchtown NJ. She attended Frenchtown Elementary School and graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School in the Class of 1984.

After high school, Ali held many jobs, from residential house cleaning to being a ‘lunch-lady’ at the Robert Hunter School and Hunterdon Central Regional High School, a driver for High Point Partial Care, and a bus driver for Del-Val Regional High School. She worked at the former Verducci’s Market and distributed food at Hunterdon Medical Center. While working as a cashier for Croton Texaco, she met her future husband, John. What Ali loved most was working Sundays as a Ticket Agent for Black River and Western Railroad in Flemington.

She was a member of the Somerset County Historical Society for many years, Ali’s biggest joy was the endless moments spent with her special needs son, John Everett. She treasured the time that they spent together, bringing endless happiness to them both. Still, she will be remembered for her big heart, wonderful smile, and quick wit as she rarely missed an opportunity to lighten the room with a humorous comment – she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Ali was incredibly proud of her father, Everett Gunther, for his steadfast work ethic and for proudly carrying the Gunther name. She traced many previous generations, which (through marriage) were direct descendants of the Fitz-Randolph family, who had arrived in the ‘New World’ aboard the Mayflower.

Ali and her family wanted to extend a special thanks to the members of the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad and all of the incredible doctors and nurses that provided unwavering support during her illness.

Predeceased by her mother, Rose Marie Felice Gunther in 2000, Ali is survived by her everloving husband, John Martin Pavlica, her son, John Everett Pavlica, her step-sons, James Pavlica and his wife, Nicole, and Eric Pavlica, her granddaughter, Eloise, her father, Everett Gunther of Frenchtown NJ, her sister, Rose Marie Gunther of Bloomsbury NJ, as well as several cousins.

Funeral services celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Small will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822.
