Warren A. Zahn, age 78 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Sunday, May 8, 2005, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and Adele Zahn.
He was raised in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY, and had resided in Delaware Township, NJ for the past twenty-nine years.
He was a 1944 graduate of South Side High School, and joined the United States Navy in 1944 at the age of seventeen. He served aboard the destroyer escort Koiner in World War II, with the rank of Motor Machinist's 3rd Class. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic, receiving a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and he received a Master's in Industrial Management. He worked for Celanese Corporation, then with Mobil Oil from 1952-1987. Through his experience in the Navy and work, he traveled to many exotic locations throughout the world. He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church, Flemington, NJ.
His wife of fifty-two years, Peggy Zahn, died in 2004. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Jack Lally of Brookfield, CT; two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew Zahn of Annandale, NJ and Mary Zahn of Readington, NJ, and Douglas and Christine Zahn of Bellmore, NY; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Calvary Episcopal Church, Broad Street and New York Avenue, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
