Rocco Volonnino

Rocco Volonnino, age 83 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Venosa-Potenza, Italy, September 15, 1934, son of the late Saverio and Rosaria Montereale Volonnino. Rocco immigrated to Sao Paolo, Brazil in 1952 where he met his wife, Helena. They immigrated to the United States in 1965 with their son, Severino where they settled in the Clifton, NJ area.

Rocco had a long career as a tool and die maker for a variety of northern New Jersey companies. He was a member of the St. Phillips Knights of Columbus Council #11671, Clifton, NJ and a member of the Italian Soccer Club, Passaic, NJ, and Roma Sports Club, Paterson, NJ.

He is pre-deceased by four siblings, Raefelo Selvatico, Michele’ Volonnino, Luzia Chiarella, and Angela Dichirico.

Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-seven years Helena Ribeiro Volonnino; two children, Severino Volonnino, (wife, Catherine O’Shea Volonnino) of Mansfield, NJ and Christina Tinney, (husband, Joseph J Tinney, Jr.) of Ringoes, NJ; two brothers, Guiseppi Volonnino of Sao Roque, Brazil and Antonio Volonnino of Clifton, NJ; one sister, Anna Desouza of Asbury Park, NJ and five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Dylan, Jason and Keira.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 6:00-9:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home.
