Paul E. White

Paul E. White, age 92 years, of Garfield, NJ, formerly of Manasquan, NJ, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at his home.

Born in Grandin, NJ, October 1, 1921, son of the late Edward J. and Madeleine Marchand White, he had formerly resided in Manasquan, NJ, for fifty years before moving to Garfield four years ago.

A retired senior clerk at Shell Oil Co. Laboratories, Sewaren, NJ, he was formerly secretary-treasurer of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union Local, Sewaren, NJ.

He was a US Marine Corps veteran of World War 2, serving in the South Pacific and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was a charter member of the Manasquan Elks Lodge; former secretary of the Manasquan Republican Club; member and former secretary of the Old Guard of Pt. Pleasant, NJ; and was formerly Superintendent of St. Muriel's Episcopal Church of Manasquan.

His wife, Marion White, died in 1996: a son, Russell Stuart White died March 2014; and his daughter-in-law, Mary Ann in 2010. He was also pre-deceased by two sisters.

Surviving are four sons, Edward J. White and his wife Caroline of Statesville, NC, Paul D. White and his wife Rina of Los Angeles, CA., Thomas G. White of Garfield, NJ, and Charles R. White and his wife Eileen of Parsippany, NJ.; two brothers, Raymond White of Glasgow, KY, and Charles White of New Hope, PA.; five grandchildren, William, Jennifer, Michelle, Marion and Charlene; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, followed by interment in Union Cemetery, Grandin, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
