Michael J. Scheier, age 78 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on February 26, 2007, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Raritan Township, NJ, April 10, 1928, he was the youngest of twelve children born to the late Stephen and Mary Scheier, and was a lifelong resident of Raritan Township.
A 1946 graduate of Flemington High School and a 1950 graduate of Delaware Valley College where in 1969 he was inducted into the Delaware Valley College Football Hall of Fame, he served in the United States Army Military Police 1954-1956. In 1953, he enlisted in the New Jersey State Police, retiring in 1981 as a Lieutenant.
Mr. Scheier was a communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ.
Surviving are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Jeanne Gass Scheier; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Mariann Scheier of Tewksbury Township, NJ, Kevin and Jenny Scheier of Holland Township, NJ, and James and Beth Scheier of Alexandria Township, NJ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Tim Bill of Kingwood Township, NJ, and Jane and Michael Bill of Alexandria Township, NJ; two sisters, Mary Rolland of Newark, NJ, and Ann Paieda of Raritan Township, NJ; one brother, William Scheier of Ashburn, VA. He was also the adoring grandfather to eighteen grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM Friday in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 10 AM until Noon in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
