Lawrence C. Apgar, Sr., age 90 years, of Clinton, NJ, died on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Jutland, NJ, March 15, 1917, son of the late Harlem and Edith Jones Apgar, he was a lifelong resident of Clinton.
A graduate of Churchman's Business School, Easton, PA, Mr. Apgar was owner and operator of Cyrus R. Fox Lumber, Clinton, NJ for over fifty years.
A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church, Clinton, NJ. Additionally, he was a member of Hobart Lodge, F. & A.M., Clinton, NJ; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Trenton, NJ; the Crescent Shrine Temple, Trenton, NJ; the Hunterdon County Shrine Club; and a past member of the Clinton Fire Company, Clinton, NJ.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Helen Fox Apgar; two daughters, Barbara Ann Gates of Bethlehem, PA and Patricia Apgar Swartz of Skillman, NJ; two sons, Lawrence C. Apgar, Jr. of LaFayette, NY and Cyrus Fox Apgar of Clinton, NJ; a brother, Donald Apgar of Chenango Bridge, NY; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by a sister, Eleanor Isak.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinton Presbyterian Church, 91 Center Street, Clinton, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Grandin, NJ. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
