Karen Lynn Chapman lost her life on January 16, 2024 in Crossville TN, where she retired a few years ago from Delaware Township NJ.
Born on May 31, 1954 to the late Erwin and Helen (Maxwell) Gerlitz, Karen grew up in Pompton Plains, NJ with her siblings Dana, Marion, and Kevin and graduated from Pequannock High School. Karen married her husband, James, on August 19, 1978. Together they raised their two children, Andrew and Jason, in Delaware Township.
Karen enjoyed sightseeing and exploring, gardening, sewing, and various other crafts and hobbies. She was an amazing person, working various jobs throughout her life to help support her family, but was always there as a devoted wife and loving mother. Karen was known as “Nanny” to her three grandchildren, who love her more than words can express.
In addition to her parents, Karen was predeceased by two siblings, Marion Simmons and Kevin Gerlitz, and posthumously by her son, Jason. She is survived by her husband Jim, her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Melissa of Warminster PA, her three grandchildren, Kevin, Luke and Grace, as well as her older sister and brother-in-law, Dana and Bruce Salmon of Tucson AZ, and her brother-in-law, Carl Simmons.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ 08822. Interment will be private. Friends may visit on Friday, May 31st from 1:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
