John F. Hitchcock, Sr.

John F. Hitchcock, Sr., age 82 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, Fredon Township, NJ.

Born in Red Bank, NJ, October 10, 1938, son of the late John F. and Bertha MacIntosh Hitchcock, he had resided in Clinton Township for two years having previously resided in Delaware Township for forty years and also in Flemington, NJ.

John was a retired teacher and taught at Somerset County Vo-Tech Institute, Bridgewater Township, NJ

He was a graduate of Rutgers University and received his Master’s Degree from Rider College. Throughout his long teaching career he taught many subjects including, English, Mathematics and Writing.

An avid boater and fisherman, he was a volunteer at the Pequest Education Center. John was also a former member of the Delaware Township Board of Adjustment and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Doris Ann Woodruff Hitchcock; two sons, John F. Hitchcock of Raritan Township, NJ and Brian Christopher Hitchcock of Kingwood Township, NJ; a daughter, Karen Lynne Hitchcock-Dunlop of Frenchtown, NJ; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth, John, Claire, Madelyn and Andrea Hitchcock.

Private family graveside services will be held in Fair View Cemetery, Middletown Township, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
