Gladys K. Howell, age 95 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2005, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Quakertown, NJ, January 18, 1910, she was the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Cummings Brown. She had resided in Hunterdon County, NJ her entire life.
She was a retired elementary school teacher for the Flemington-Raritan School District, retiring in 1972 after forty-three years of service.
She was a 1927 graduate of Flemington High School, and a 1929 graduate of Trenton Normal School (now the College of New Jersey).
She was a member of the Flemington Women's Club, the Flemington United Methodist Church, the Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society, the NJEA, the Hunterdon County Retired Teachers Association, the Flemington Button Club, and the Flemington-Raritan Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Harry Howell, died in 1978. She is survived by two nephews, Frank Hann of Lambertville, NJ, and John Howell III of New Hope, PA, and a niece, Mary Jane Howell of Lambertville, NJ, and great nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
