Francis H. Strouse, 75, died Sunday, June 28, 1992 in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington.
Born in Flemington, Mr. Strouse was a Flemington-area resident most of his life.
He retired in 1975 after 40 years as a postmaster at the Flemington Post Office. He was a former sports editor of the Hunterdon County Democrat for more than 10 years.
He was a scout-master of Boy Scout Troop No. 61, Flemington, for more than 25 years and received scouting's Silver Beaver Award.
Since his retirement as scoutmaster, he was an advisor to the George Washington Council, B.S.A., New Brunswick.
Mr. Strouse was a member, former elder, and choir member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church; member and former secretary of the Flemington Rotary Club and was a recipient of its Rotary Paul Harris Award; was past member of Darcy Lodge No. 37, F&AM of Flemington; organizer and former operator of Camp Foran-Fisher Scout Camp, Mount Airy; former trustee of Prospect Hill Cemetery Assosciation, Flemington; and former member of Flemington American Legion Post No. 159.
He was a 1934 graduate of Flemington High School.
Mr. Strouse served as staff sergeant with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Kane) Strouse; a son, Patrick of Bethpage, New York; a daughter, Kathleen Reiss of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania; a sister, Lois Danberry of Ringoes; a granddaughter, Juliette Reiss of Wynnewood; an aunt, Helen Vannick of Virginia Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Flemington Presbyterian Church.
Interment was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington.
