E. June Lawson Wene

E. June Lawson Wene, age 67 years of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.

Born in Easton, PA, June 14, 1936 to the late Albert and Ethel Philkill Lawson, she had resided in Franklin Township all her life.

Mrs. Wene received her B.S. in Health Education from Trenton State College and then went on to become a Registered Nurse. She was the school nurse at North Hunterdon High School for over 27 years, retiring in 1998. Additionally, she worked at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ in the Maternity Ward and also for Drs. Pierce and Wermuth part-time.

She was President of the Clinton Woman's Club, Clinton, NJ, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Hunterdon County, a member of the Viking Lodge, Morrisville, PA and was actively involved with the Franklin Township Seniors. Additionally, she was a lifelong member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Grandin, NJ.

She is survived by her husband of six years, George P. Wene; a son, Timothy A. Snyder and wife Kim of Port Charlotte, FL; a daughter, Patricia A. White and husband Arthur of Royalton, VT; two stepsons, Ken Wene and wife Vicki of Franklin Township, NJ and Scott Wene of Clinton Township, NJ; five grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Snyder of Port Charlotte, FL and Kyle, Cheyenne and Trevor Wene of Franklin Township, NJ; a brother, Albert Lawson of Pen Argyl, PA; and two sisters, Karen Fides of Richlandtown, PA and Linda Hildebrant of Port Charlotte, FL. A son, Turrell Snyder, died in 1978.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Rt. 513 at Grandin Road/Race Street, Grandin, NJ. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemtery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
