Chester F. Shallop, age 90 years, died on September 23, 2004 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Niagra Falls, NY, May 9, 1914, son of the late Jacob and Bessie Shallop, he had resided in the Bronx, NY, before moving to Milford, NJ in 1995.
He was a retired bartender and liquor store manager in the Bronx. He was a communicant of St. Edward's Church, Milford, NJ, and was formerly a communicant at St. Helena's R.C. Church, Bronx, NY, where he was a former member of the St. Helena's Glee Club. He was a member of the AARP; the Knights of Columbus, and the Hunterdon County Senior Chorus.
His wife, Virginia Reich Shallop, died in 1984. Surviving are three sons: Richard G. Shallop, of Milford, NJ, Frank Shallop and Paul Shallop, both of the Bronx, NY; a daughter, Joan Shallop, of Staten Island, NY; fifteen grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 AM at St. Helena's R.C. Church, Westchester Avenue, Bronx, NY. Interment will be in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Bronx, NY. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 6-8 PM at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, and Monday from 7-9 PM at Walter B. Cooke, Inc., 2525 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, NY.
