FLEMINGTON -- Funeral services for Charles Russell Fisher, 84, of Flemington, who died Saturday at home, will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Flemington Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Flemington, followed by interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington.

A lifelong Hunterdon County resident, Mr. Fisher was born in Ringoes, where he resided until he moved to Flemington in 1937. He was a funeral director for more than 60 years at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, which was established by his grandfather, Charles Holcombe, in 1894. He was a graduate of Flemington High School and Renouard Mortuary Institute in New York City; elected to the Board of Directors of the former Flemington National Bank & Trust Co. in 1955 and Chairman of the Board from 1965 to 1991; and a member and former elder of the Flemington Presbyterian Church. Other memberships included Flemington Lions Club, 60 years; Copper Hill Country Club, 50 years; Darcy Lodge 37 F&AM, 60 years and past master; and Clinton Chapter Royal Arch Masons of Flemington, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Trenton, Crescent Temple Shrine of Trenton, Flemington Elks Lodge 1928, and Skytop Lodge, Skytop, Pa. He was a recipient of the Israeli Bond award and a former member of the Hunterdon County Mental Health Board. His professional affiliations included the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association, NJ State Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Josephine (Punchy) Oaks Fisher; a son, Charles H. Fisher of Flemington; a daughter, Nancy Christie of Delaware Twp.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
