Obituary for Roy S. Compton

Roy S. Compton, age 86 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his home.

Born in Baptistown, NJ, May 10, 1931, son of the late Sylvanus and Marion Rupell Compton, he had resided in Hunterdon County all his life.

A farmer for many years with Dvoor Bros. Farms in Raritan Township, NJ; Roy later was employed by the Raritan Township Public Works Dept. and then by Delaware Township Park until retiring in 2014.

Roy was a life member of the Raritan Township Fire Company where he was a former Chief and Past President, and was also a member of the Flemington Speedway Fire Department for many years.

His wife of forty-six years, Peggy Oldenborg Compton, died in 2006.

Surviving are a son, Charles R. Compton of Flemington, NJ; and two sisters, Doris Orashen of Flemington, NJ and Edna Wene of Asbury, NJ.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Monday 7:00-9:00PM at the funeral home.
