Obituary for Robert E. Bublitz

Robert E. Bublitz, CDR, USN (Ret.), age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home.

Born in Chicago, IL, April 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Enright and Alberta Minks Bublitz.

Commander Bublitz honorably served in the United States Navy from 1946 – 1968. He received his B.A. from the University of Maryland. Robert served as a Navy Pilot in the Philippines and Pensacola, Florida. Later he served as an Intelligence Officer in Baghdad and Munich.

After leaving the Navy, Robert worked at Chase Manhattan Bank as Executive Assistant to the Chairman for 23 years and retired with his wife Helen in Melfa, Virginia.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-nine years, Helen Ginniff Bublitz; his daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen A. and Frank Cavalla of Flemington, NJ and Lauren B. and Todd Althoff of Tewksbury, NJ; and his three grandchildren: Christopher Althoff, Jeffrey Althoff, and Blake Althoff.

Inurnment with military honors will be announced in Arlington National Cemetery under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
