Obituary for Malcolm D. Lowenhaupt

Malcolm Douglas Lowenhaupt, age 92, of Ringoes, NJ, passed away on June 20, 2018 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.

Born Oct 10, 1925 in Hartford, CT, he served as Quartermaster on board LST 619 in the Pacific Theater during WW II. After securing his station among the rest of the Greatest Generation, he moved his family to Plainfield, NJ and eventually settled in Ringoes in 1969.

Malcolm was an accomplished professional land surveyor, and dedicated his free time to serving his community. Volunteering as Scoutmaster of Troop #11 in Plainfield, NJ and Grandmaster of the Ringoes Grange #12, Malcolm also spent time serving on the School Board of East Amwell Township, while also sharing his life-long love of reading and literature with elementary school children during Read Across America Week.

Malcolm was preceded in death by his beloved wife Muriel, parents Ralph and Mary Lowenhaupt, brother Henry Lowenhaupt and grandson, Colin Bryan. He is survived by his son, Douglas Lowenhaupt of Pittsburgh, PA and daughter, Rhoda Bryan of Townsend, DE, and his grandchildren, Timothy Lowenhaupt, John Lowenhaupt, Kyle Bryan and Carole (Bryan) Weisbrod. Malcolm was blessed to know four great-grand children: Douglas Lowenhaupt, Molly Lowenhaupt, and twins, Olivia and Haley Weisbrod. He is also survived by his cherished niece, Belinda (Lowenhaupt) Collins.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 25th at 10:00 am St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope, PA 18938. Immediately following the funeral service, Malcolm will be interred in Union Hill Cemetery, Middle Haddam, CT. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to the Ringoes Grange #12, PO Box 53, Ringoes, NJ 08551.
