Obituary for George Russell Whitehead

G. Russell Whitehead, age 94 years, of East Amwell Township, NJ, died on Monday, February 5, 2018 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in New Bedford, MA, December 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Trevling and Ethel Neagus Whitehead. He had resided in East Amwell Township since 1972.

Mr. Whitehead was a retired Steamfitter with Local #475, Warren, NJ. He served as a Corporal with the United States Army during World War II from 1944-1946 with the 329th Infantry Company F.

His wife, Marguerite O’Connell Whitehead, died in 2008. Surviving are his three sons, Michael, Kevin, and Shawn Whitehead; his three daughters, Margaret Earl, Mary Ellen Lane, and Marguerite Cyr; two brothers, Robert and Donald Whitehead; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11:00AM in Old Rocks Church, Mt. Airy-Harbourton Road, West Amwell Township, NJ. Arrnagements are under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial in Brigadier General William Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown NJ, was completed privately.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
